InnerPulse 4.0: mood tracking now on Apple Watch and the Lock Screen

The privacy-first app's biggest update yet adds an Apple Watch app, widgets and plain-language insights, all of it still fully on-device.

Hamburg, June 25, 2026 - Indie developer Marvin Blome has released InnerPulse 4.0, the biggest update yet to his iOS app for structured mental self-reflection. The app leaves the iPhone for the first time: a dedicated Apple Watch app plus new Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets capture your mood in seconds, without opening the app. All data still stays on the device only, with no account and no cloud.

On Apple Watch the Digital Crown is all it takes: turn it, set a value from 1 to 10, tap, done. On iPhone a single tap on a widget or the Lock Screen does the job. Sync between watch and iPhone runs in both directions, even offline, with the iPhone staying the source of truth. One widget shows the weekly pulse, another renders the last twelve weeks as a colored grid.

There is also a new analysis engine that detects interactions between factors and explains them in full sentences rather than charts, for example: "On days with exercise you ate healthy 40 percent more often" or "After days with little sleep your mood is lower on average the next day." Every statement is an observation, not a diagnosis. The update adds an intensity slider per factor, fully editable factors, a journal search, backfilling of missed days, CSV import and a PDF report.

"With Apple Watch and the widgets, an entry now takes seconds, not minutes," says founder Marvin Blome. "My main goal was to make tracking so easy that you don't forget it, and still give nothing off the device. The privacy promise lives in the architecture, not in a privacy policy."

InnerPulse needs no network endpoint of its own to work, which can be verified in minutes with standard tools like Little Snitch. Optional Apple services such as Health or WeatherKit exchange data with Apple only. 9to5Mac featured the app in its Indie App Spotlight in April 2026, describing it as "in depth, private, and on-device." German Apple blog appgefahren highlighted in June that no user account is required and that there is no cloud upload and no tracking.

All data from version 3 is migrated locally. InnerPulse is available worldwide on the App Store for iPhone and Apple Watch, in seven languages, as a one-time purchase of 4.99 euros, with no subscription and no in-app purchases.
